Only needing one game to impress the selectors in the team’s recent Oceania tournament victory. Otere Black has been included as one of two first fives in the squad. Impressing in the Baby Blacks demolition of their Japanese counter parts Otere was then called back into the Hurricanes to cover the injury to Beauden Barret.
It is unclear at this stage who the coaches’ favour as their starting 10 but it would have to be argued given Otere’s Super Rugby calibre and championship winning form he may be the favourite to start.
The young first five was true to his character remaining very humble and focussed in response to his selection;
“We all know we have a job to do as a team which is something we are really focussed on this year,” he outlined, “I just want to add to the environment, on the pitch or not we are all looking to contribute for the good of the team and the jersey.”
Touted as a future All Black the Turbos first five and the rest of the U20s squad will no doubt be looking to reclaim a title that has alluded them recently with England and South Africa beginning to realise the full potential of their vast talent pools.
