Promising outside back Taniela Filimone has signed with the Manawatū Turbos for the 2021 season.
The 21-year-old Chiefs Development player, who can cover wing and centre, brings some blockbusting finishing skills to the Turbos, who are currently light on outside backs.
Filimone has linked up with Feilding Old Boys-Ōroua and played the last couple of rounds of Hankins Shield rugby with the club.
He has long been earmarked for great things having impressed as a schoolboy out of Rotorua Boys’ High School, including being named in the Condor Sevens tournament team.
He has played for the Bay of Plenty Development team, Chiefs Under 20s, Tonga Under 20s and Chiefs Development XV.
But his move to Palmerston North comes in the search of an opportunity to crack Bunnings NPC.
Filimone is just the second outside back locked in for the Turbos alongside rising Feilding Yellows star Drew Wild.
