Booth confirmed to captain Turbos

Jamie Booth has been confirmed as captain for a second season as the Turbos prepare for the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup season.

Booth was named alongside new vice captain Brayden Iose at the team launch at Manawatū Toyota on Thursday night.

Booth, the two-time reigning supporters' club player of the year, is coming off the back of an outstanding Super Rugby season with the Hurricanes, while Iose also spent much of the season training with the Hurricanes.

Eleven players were included in the squad who have yet to debut for the Turbos including the likes of excioting young lock TK Howden, who has come through Feilding High School along with Samoan international Filo Paulo, former Brumbies utility back Nigel Ah Wong and experiecned prop combo Kyle Stewart, Tietie Tuimauga and Solomona Sakalia.

Four halfbacks were included in the team with Booth joined by All Black Aaron Smith, last season's back-up Griffin Culver and former Palmerston North Boys' High School rising star Bryn Wilson.

Ngani Laumape was also incluided with an expected return from his arm injury in October, while Nehe Milner-Skudder has been cleared to play on his return from injury.

A player to watch for 2020 is loose forward Tyler Laubscher. Last season's Under 19s player of the year was a standout in the first preseason game and is expected to fight hard for a starting spot on the side of the scrum.
