Meet the team
One of the greatest halfbacks of the modern game, Aaron Smith's speed of passing and transition is a vital part of the All Blacks success. The urgency and skill with which he plays, allows his backline precious time to make the right decision. With a consistent kicking game and a tendency for sniping runs rounds out a near perfect set of skills for Smith. Smith was a key leadership figure in the Highlanders Super Rugby-winning campaign in 2015. As of 2016, he is the leader of the haka as he takes a senior role in the national side.
Jamie Booth made his debut for the Turbos in 2015, and was rewarded for a stellar ITM Cup season with a spot in the Hurricanes Wider-Training squad in 2015. He was then called into the Blues, but did not see any game time with the Super Rugby franchise. He is an explosive halfback and a former Palmerston North Boys High School 1st XV player. Jamie has represented Manawatu at Sevens and through age grade teams.
The product of Feilding High School signed with the Turbos in his first year out of school. He impressed with his passing and vision in club rugby for Feilding Yellows making him one to watch in the future.
The former Manawatu Under 19s representative headed off to Wanganui in 2016 and had a bumper year making the New Zealand Heartland XV and being named Heartland Player of the Year. In 2017 he returned to Manawatu and proved he is up to the task of Mitre 10 Cup rugby.
