Winiata Returns to NZ7s fold

In her time away from the National side Winiata ensured she had every chance of being recalled into the side. Part of this was helping Manawatu capture their third National Titles in just four years. Selica was a standout at Nationals playing her way right back into the National side.

Joining Selica will be Captain Sarah Goss as well as Manawatu Loan Player Michaela Blyde who was also part of Manawatu's 2016 national title winning side. Coach Sean Horan remained resolute on the teams immeidate aim to win but also acknowledged they are building for the coming months;

“We want to do well in Atlanta and we also know we have to give other players the chance to put their hands up for the Olympics. This team gives us a great blend of experience and exciting new talent. That will really add to our understanding of the squad’s capabilities.

“We aim to win in August and that means trying new combinations and tactics over the next three tournaments so that come Rio we’ve given ourselves every chance of winning.”
