Jamie Booth Signs With Blues
Turbos own Jamie Booth has been signed by the Blues as injury cover for Bryn Hall and will train with the squad through to May.
The Turbos are pleased to announce, that halfback Jamie Booth has been signed by the Blues as cover for the injured Bryn Hall. Booth will head to Auckland as essentially the third choice halfback where one injury could see him make the bench for John Kirwan's struggling Blues team.
After a very impressive debut with the Green and White the round the edges halfback continued to turn heads playing for the Hurricanes development team over the past few months.
"He has had some commanding performances for Hurricanes [Development Team] and after everything he has worked for it is good to see him getting reward for his efforts," Turbos head coach Jason O'Halloran said, "It will be good to see if he can get a run perhaps at the end of a game for 20mins or so to show them what he can do."
After a horror injury in 2013 that left Jamie wheelchair bound the young halfback has suprised physios and surgeons alike with not only his ability to play again but the level at which he is playing. With the injury ruling him out of a potential New Zealand U20 squad spot Booth never let the injury get the better of him;
"I tried not to think of things like the [NZ] U20s, I never doubted that I would play again once we found the nerve was ok," Jamie explained, "I broke everything down into small steps and took one thing at a time to make sure I got it absolutely right."
CEO John Knowles outlined how good it was to see another Turbo at Super Rugby level;
"Being called into the Blues only two years on from an injury that could have stopped him playing for good is a testament to his paitence and dertermination, we wish him all the best in the coming months and look forward to seeing him back here."
